Tamara Aupaumut visualizes somatic healing practices passed down from her ancestors of the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians, the Oneida Nation and the Brothertown Indian Nation. According to the artist, Inner Kettle (2026) “carries water, the same water that we carry in our bodies, symbolizing the ability that we all have within ourselves to cleanse, heal and transform.”

Tamara Aupaumut is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist living on Mni Sota Makoce, also known as Minneapolis, MN. Her creative practice is guided by an epistemological and ontological framework, engaging critically with concepts of memory, belonging, interrelationship, space and time, while her cultural heritage and ancestral lineage serve as foundational elements in the development of her concepts.
