Kristen Sanders -- Untitled (mask)
Acrylic on collaged paper, signed and dated on recto
12 x 9 inches
All proceeds from this sale will be donated to the Ukrainian charity Razom. In this work on paper, Kristen Sanders builds on the themes of her 2022 Dreamsong exhibition 'Infinite Beach.' Drawing from the smooth gloss and rigid joints of anatomical models, the otherworldly texture of silicone, and the rugged beaches of her native California, Sanders creates uneasy portraits that explore what remnants survive at the periphery of existence. Colored with midnight blue and violet and smoldering tangerine, these works remind us that we are always stranded somewhere along the continuum between where we are going and whence we came.
