Released to commemorate a collaborative exhibition between LA-based, German painter Friedrich Kunath and the late poet and musician David Berman of the Silver Jews and Purple Mountains, the print displays nine portrait-sized images of paintings Kunath based on Berman's lyrics and songs.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Born in Chemnitz, East Germany and based in LA, Kunath's painting practice transposes the romanticist compositions of Caspar David Friedrich and the Hudson River School into contemporary landscapes that straddle the line between irony and earnestness, conveying universal sentiments of love, hope, longing, and despair through an innovative use of repeated imagery and vibrant text. He is represented by Blum & Poe and Konig Galerie.
